Welcome to the 2009 season of
the grand old game of baseball at Hastings Community Little League Park.
As we get set for the
2009 season we continue to work on improvements to our park. Due to the
increase in registration we have improved the rookie practice field, with
our sights set on making a permanent Rookie field in that location soon.
We had a great season last year
with many accomplishments to celebrate. Registration was up again and we
enjoyed terrific baseball in all our league divisions in 2008. The Major
Expos, continuing their terrific club play, finished second in the Hyack Major Tournament in
New Westminster and defended their District 6 Major title in the D6
Championship Tournament in June.
All Stars
The District 6 T-ball Jamboree
and Rookie All-Star tournament was hosted by Hastings Little League. As in
league play, there are no scores kept for the T-ball tournament but all
our players had a great time. Congratulations to our Rookie team which won
the championship and represented
Hastings as host very well. And thanks to all the volunteers who helped
make the tournament work.
Last year, South Vancouver Little League hosted the
9 & 10 year old District 6 All-Star tournament. Our Hastings team won the
tournament and went on to represent District 6 in the Provincials in
Victoria. Our team had a great tournament, making it to the semi-finals
and enjoying the summer trip to the island. Congratulations!
The Major All-Star District 6 tournament was hosted
by the New Westminster Little League. Our Hastings team won the
championship and represented District 6 at the Provincials held in
Prince George. They had a great trip and was once again one of the best
teams in the province, making it to the semi-finals. Congratulations to
all the players and coaches!
We hosted
our 19th.Annual Fred Ritchie9 & 10 year old All-Star tournament from July 26 to August
4. It was a
10 team tournament that resulted in Hastings winning the tournament
for the second year in a row, defeating the previously unbeaten Little
Mountain team in the final. It was another great year for Hastings Minors.
Our younger All-Star team competed in this
tournament also. Each year this is a great learning opportunity for our
young players who are in town during the summer to get some advanced
competition.
Congratulations to the players and thanks to the
coaches for their extended volunteer work.
