Hastings Community Little League: President's Message

A Message from the President

Welcome to the 2017 baseball season at Hastings Community Little League - home of the 2009, 2012 and 2016 Major Canadian National Champions.

The 2017 season will be the 64th season for Hastings Community Little League.

It represents the second season at the “new” diamonds at Hastings Park.  I am proud to say that, with the help of the Vancouver Parks Board, the diamonds have been renamed.  The diamond where the Major and Minor divisions play is now “Richard Saunders Field”. This is in honor of the years of service Richard has provided to Little League in Vancouver and specifically HCLL.

The diamond that hosts Rookie and T-ball has been renamed to “Volunteers Field”.  This is a thank you to all the past and present volunteers at Hastings that have made the league a success.  The league cannot survive without its volunteers.  Thank you, again, for all you do.

I would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to all our sponsors and volunteers from our league and community for the work they have done and whose continued support of Hastings Community Little League has helped turn our organization into what it is today.

I want to thank the coaches, umpires and players for a great 2016 season.  2016 was an incredibly challenging, but extremely rewarding year for Hastings Community Little League.  The league opened the before mentioned diamonds and hosted the 2016 Little League Canadian Championship.  Both the diamonds and Championship were multiyear projects that took a large-scale volunteer effort to achieve.

As for the Canadian Championship, Hastings not only won the championship, but hosted the best little league event the country has ever seen.  I want to thank the tournament committee, our billet families, our sponsors, including our main sponsors: McDonalds, The PNE and the Toronto Blue Jays.

I would be remiss if I did not say a special thank you to the Executive Committee for their tireless efforts: Richard Saunders, Neil Cusati, James Douglas, Jane Cikes, Corrine Chow, Sante Delveccio, Janis Trivisano and Antonio Dal Sasso, thank you!

Little League is a family affair that gives parents and children an opportunity to spend time together. We know that your son or daughter will appreciate the benefits of your enthusiasm and involvement in his, or her, Little League experience.

On behalf of the Board of Directors at Hastings Community Little League, we hope you enjoy the 2017 baseball season!  Cheer on the teams and enjoy everything that Little League Baseball is about.

Opening Day is Saturday April 1st.
I look forward to seeing you at the ball park.
