ABOUT THE JUNIOR T-BALL DIVISION
The Junior T-Ball division is for 4-year-old players (age as of August 31 of the current or upcoming season).

Junior T-Ball is our youngest division and is designed as a child’s very first introduction to baseball. It follows the same overall philosophy as T-Ball, but with activities, pacing, and structure adapted specifically for younger players. The emphasis at this level is on fun, movement, and comfort on the field rather than formal gameplay. This approach aligns closely with Little League Canada’s focus on fun, fitness, and fundamentals at the introductory level.

There is no scorekeeping, standings, or competitive outcomes, and every session emphasizes participation, confidence, and enjoyment. Parents or guardians are encouraged to participate on the field to support and encourage players. Junior T-Ball is all about smiles, high-fives, and building excitement for the seasons ahead.

The primary goal of Junior T-Ball is to help players feel excited, confident, and safe on a baseball field. At this age, learning happens best through play. Sessions are designed to develop basic motor skills, introduce simple baseball concepts, and create positive first experiences with teammates, coaches, and equipment, setting the foundation for future participation.

What to Expect

Players participate in a rotating mix of age-appropriate activities throughout each session, once a week, generally on Saturday mornings. These include simple skill stations focused on throwing, catching, and hitting off a tee, along with movement-based games that introduce base running and teamwork. Short, informal game-like activities are used to reinforce skills through repetition and encouragement. There is no formal game structure, no outs, and no scorekeeping, and activities are intentionally brief to match attention spans and keep players engaged.
Each player must provide their own glove, and a cup/jill is required for safety purposes. Players may bring their own helmet and bat, and owning a helmet for each player is recommended to ensure correct fit, but each team’s kit bag will also include helmets and bats that can be used.

Each player will receive a team t-shirt, a league baseball hat, and individual and team photos. “Teammate” and “sibling” requests for team placement are accepted in Junior T-Ball and T-Ball.

Please note that each player must be accompanied during both practices and games by a parent, sibling (older than 12), or trusted family member to help them feel comfortable and allow children to learn and grow at their own pace.
JUNIOR T-BALL GAME RULES
In Junior T-Ball (formerly known as Blastball), each player has the opportunity to hit once per inning. Games consist of three innings, with an inning ending after every player on the team has had a turn at bat. Each game lasts approximately 45–60 minutes. Practices are typically held once per week and last no more than 30–45 minutes.

During games, first base is the only base used and is set at the traditional first-base location. Teams alternate between batting (offense) and fielding (defense) each inning. Defensive players rotate through infield and outfield positions, similar to a traditional baseball game.

For each at-bat, the ball is placed on a tee. The batter hits the ball and runs to first base. Once the ball is hit and a defensive player fields it or catches it in the air, the play is complete. In Junior T-Ball, there are no safes or outs. After reaching first base, the batter returns to the dugout.

In Junior T-Ball, there is no need for gloves as the ball is soft and baseball gloves are optional. The softness of the ball will also eliminate the fear factor of being hit by the ball. Batting helmets are mandatory for safety reasons and jocks or jills are recommended. All players and coaches must also wear long pants on the field. Parent duties consist of raking the field before and after each game.
