GAME DUTIES

HOW VOLUNTEERS SUPPORT OUR LEAGUE

Hastings Community Little League (HCLL) is a volunteer-run organization. Managers, coaches, umpires, and league officials are all volunteers. Parent participation is essential to ensuring the success of the baseball program and keeping registration fees affordable.

Parents are expected to help with various game day duties. These duties for each game will be assigned by your team coach or team parent.

GAME DUTIES FOR MINOR & MAJOR DIVISIONS

Throughout the season, parents are needed to help with:

  • Field Setup: Includes getting equipment out of storage, setup nets, ensure sanitizer is available

  • Field Cleanup: Remove equipment from field, rake or drag infield (depending on location)

    • From time to time, parent volunteers may be needed on the field (T-Ball requires 100% parent participation). Please do not enter the field if you are not feeling well, and remain alert to potential hazards such as flying baseballs and children swinging bats.

  • Team Parent Role: The Team Parent helps take pressure off the coach by handling the bulk of communication with parents, allowing coaches to focus on the players and teaching baseball. Team Parents communicate information about league events (such as Opening Day and photo sessions), fundraisers, and health check reminders; distribute uniforms; and coordinate other team-related details. When games resume, they assign game-day tasks (see below) and may also coordinate practice duties.
